| Dracula's New Home and 20 gallon Bolivian Ram Tank I upgraded Dracula (my betta) to a 5 gallon aquarium. Please let me know what you think. I've never put a betta in an aquarium before, so I want to make sure it's a betta happy habitat
Also, is a picture of my 20 gallon bolivian ram tank. I couldn't get a picture of the occupants because they wouldn't cooperate. Imagine that!
Any thoughts, suggestions, comments would be greatly appreciated |

| Thanks, Beth I was worried about the plastic plants and his delicate fins, but he seems to be maneuvering them well.
I've been looking for a nightstand that is big enough and can hold the weight of the tank so I can move him into my bedroom. There are some good deals on craigslist for all kinds of stuff, so I may try there. There have also been SSSSOOOOO many yardsales with the economy being so bad, so there's another option. |

| Yea, did you make sure there are no sharpies on the plants or on the rock formation?
Im thinking you wont have a problem finding something to put Dracula on for your bedroom.

| The tanks look terrific.
I'd wonder about the plastic plants too. You can get silk plants for a buck at the dollar store. They work really well, nice and soft so he can rest in them. Just make sure no metal is showing. |

| Thanks everyone. I'm going to look into the silk plants. I'll check out the dollar store this weekend. Gotta keep him happy. He LOVES to play in the current the filter makes. Still trying to find something that can hold the weight so he can live in the bedroom. |

| Don't worry if you can't get them in pairs. I'm currently considering moving one to another tank (I've moved them from the 20 into a 29) because it seems like my younger ram (Fido) is always stressed. He gets chased around alot by the older ram (Spike). I thought the 29 gallon would give them more room and it does, I'm just not sure if it's enough. I've even re-arranged the plants trying to "throw them off" and we're still having chasing issues.
Personal experience, if you do get two, you may want to have a backup plan in case there is trouble. I'm not sure if other members have had the same problem or not.
When you get them, PLEASE post pics! |

| My rams show their colors best when I keep my nitrates between 5-10. They have a lot of personality and they LOVE bloodworms. I treat all my fish once or twice a week to bloodworms.
The ram will probably stay between the middle and the bottom of the tank so IMO cardinals will give you a "fuller tank look".
Also, when you feed, make sure some of the food sinks to the bottom. Your ram will probably not come to the top to feed. He'll more than likely wait for the food to drop to him.
Good luck! Can't wait to see him when you get him |

And I have loads of bloodworms, and I'm a big fan of the special treat regime hehe. I'm gettinh im on thursday hopefully, so he'll be one happy chappy. |

His mum was a black labrador and his dad a golden retriever. He's eight years old and was supposed to be a guide dog, but he was too stupid. Earlier he started attacking my siphon lol!
What's yours like? (I just ADORE labs ) |

| I used to foster for a lab rescue and he was one of my fosters. He got adopted out, bit a person twice, came back to us. Then he went to a different foster home and attacked their dog. Now, he lives with me, my daughter, and my other dog (a giant schnauzer) whom he has no issues with. He also has an abuse history, which is more than likely why he's had these problems with other caretakers. He's one of those dogs who NEEDS, NEEDS, NEEDS a strong canine-savy leader. I'm also training to be a dog trainer and he'll be used to help train un-balanced dogs as well. |

| I think that dogs, or I've found, that they can become vicious if they become complacent, or if they're just treated like people, or treated horribly, the two extremes seem to bring it out in dogs I've known. I'm so glad he has a good home now My boyfriend has two rehomed greyhounds, one was terribly abused, hit, and probably starved, and now he's a big soppy ball of cuteness, all because they did exactly what they needed to. And being a dog trainer will be perfect, you'll be able to hrelp loads of others too
Thanks so much for the help with the fish as well, I've decided on eight black neons (maybe six...) and a Bolivian, the tanks in place and bubblying away nicely |
