At last my 55 gallon tank is cycled and populated with what I think is a great community!
I've gone for a community setup, although I'm aware that there are a couple of fish in there that might need to be relocated in a year or two. I've also had alot of family and friends complain about the skull, but I think it's absolutely fantastic, and provides a good hiding place for the RTS. After my next payday I'm also looking to increase the plantation, moving from left to right and maybe removing the grey ornament between them. Opinions welcomed!
The fishtank is stocked with:
3 Male guppies - 1x Leapord , 1x Neon Blue , 1x Orange
4 Female guppies - 1x Orange, 1x Black, 1x Leapord , 1x Yellow
2 Neon tetras (hardy remnants of a tank change from long ago!)
5 Leapord Danios
1 MYSTERY FISH ("Mystery Fish")
2 Clown Loaches
1 Red Tail Shark
1 Hoplos Catfish
2 Opaline Gourami
Hey and no comments about the Sonic plushie, a man is never old enough to throw out his favourite childhood toy!

Ah, for some reason Fishlore stopped telling me this thread had been updated!
My tanks gone through a few more changes the past few weeks. One of my Clown loaches died very abruptly (the other one's flourishing and my parameters are great which was confusing) and I didn't notice for about a week because the Skull was such an inaccessible hiding place, so I decided it had to go (I had horrible visions of something dying in there and polluting the water over months!). In place of it I bought 2 "hiding place" logs, one horizontal one vertical. I also removed the Bogwood as nothing was using it and it seemed to be a magnet for filth on the water, whenever I moved it or a fish even darted past it threw up a disgusting cloud.
I also returned the gravel vacuum I was having problems with, and got a slightly smaller one which works fantastic, the gravel looks new out of the bag now!
I went for a few more plants, and became confused when the water started to go quite gunky. On closer inspection some of the stem bases on the plants were rotting and snail infested (Thanks, Pets at home!) so I removed them, and had a bit of spare cash so upgraded the tank from a Fluval 3+ tp an external Fluval 350, which cost a fair bit but does the job. Within 12 hours my water was clearer than I ever thought it could be!
I'm now wondering if there's room for more fish. If you saw my other thread you may have read about my "epileptic Kuhli loaches" of 5 I only have 1 left, the petshops stock have all died which has upset them alot as they're extremely cautious and well respected , so they've been throwing all sorts of free "apology" merchandise at me , bless them.
I'm thinking of maybe getting a small shoal of colourful fish, as my tank seems to consist of cool, "specialist" fish but no swarm of colour shooting around. At the latest count I have:
1 Clown Loach
3 Male Guppies
4 Female Guppies
5 Zebra Danio
1 Blue Gourami
1 Hoplos Catfish
1 Black Redtail Shark
2 Neon tetras
1 Ortzias Javanicus (The Artist formerly known as Mystery Fish)
How do you think that relate in terms of space/ bioload to a tank this size with this level of filtration? If you believe there is room for more fish, what do members think would compliment it?
Here's a little video of my tank, prior to the new filtration system. Apologies for the questionable video quality, there were lighting problems.
