Suggestion for my tank

This is my newly decorated tank. Tell me what you guys think! I am planning to move the bricks toward the center of the tank and remove the biggest "mountain" ornament for the next water change because right now the bricks seems to be out of place.

I think the bricks I have are safe for the fish but if i am wrong please tell me so I can remove it right away!

I have never thought of using bricks. I don't know what is in them, so I don't know if they are safe. They look pretty neat - They are also a safe way to stack things in a tank. Centering the bricks would create a visual balance - good idea - so long as they are safe. Ask the place where you bought them what is in them. Maybe they will know.

I agree with moving the bricks around but I am unsure about whether or not they are safe for the fish. I am sure someone else on the forum will know about that. It is a nice size tank, what do you plan on putting in it?

Thanks for the comments.

I already have about 15-17 African Cichlids, 2 guppies (They were meant to feed my turtles but they survived for a long time somehow so I just put them inside the tank. It has been forever since they are living together with my Cichlids.), about 5-7 feeder fish and 1 common pleco.

I really want to put in some fancy guppies but they would get killed in there so that's not an option. Unless you have any suggestions.. =D

Welcome to Fishlore (I don't think I've said that yet).

Not sure about the bricks, but I think they are pretty neutral and they shouldn't have anything toxic in them.

Hi
I like the bricks
If they are made from natural clay they should be ok . I would only worry if they had colour added .

Do you have goldfish in with Malawi cichlids? Are those betta in containers?

They definitely need different tanks. Goldfish are cold water fish.
Malawi cichlids should be in a species only tank with lots of smooth round, rock work. Mt first Malawi set up had bricks but I soon learned when they got bigger they could cut themselves on the brick. I would remove them.

Thanks seedy. The bricks seem safe because no fish died yet. Haha.

Thanks for the suggestion Allie. I should have just update this thread instead of making a new one. My bad. I would like to use my 20 gallons for the two betas but I need to find a divider. I answered your question about the gold fish in the other thread. I never knew that the Cichlids would hurt themselves when they get bigger because of the bricks. I'll definitely keep that in mind and try to find rocks for them. The only reason I settled for bricks was because I could not find any decent rock size.

and I also commented on the other thread you have going ...its a great looking setup and I like the bricks in the middle better but I am a girlie and we seem to balance things more often than not hahaha

Oh wow. Thanks Shawnie! I never though about making a divider by using that. I will definitely try to find time to make one and move the bettas into my 20 gallons as soon as I can.
