Updated Pics of My Fully Planted 10 Gal

I noticed that it has been a while since I posted some pictures up here so I took some of my 10 Gallon fully planted. It has been up and running since 3/30/08. Since my last update there have been a few changes. I moved out the Lemon Tetras and replaced them with the Harlequin Rasboras from my old 30 Gallon Hex. I have propegated the Botopia and Vallesneria but trimming and transplanting every two weeks or so. Believe it or not but this entire tank started out with one bunch of Botopia, Three shoots of Vallisneria, the giant Crypt in the middle started out with 6 leaves, and the Argentinian sword started out as a with 6-8 leaves and only one inch high. I tried to get some ground cover with Glosso but it didn't work out. I don't think I planted it correctly, but I am growing to love the way the tank is looking with a bare floor between the plants.

Here are the specs:

10 Gallon Wal-Mart Kit tank
Tetra Whisper Power Filter
2 screw in 15 W 6500k CF Bulbs (3 WPG)
DIY CO2
Plants - Java Moss, Cryptoforme Undulata, Botopia, Vallesneria, Argentinian Sword, Duckweed
Fish - 8 Harlequin Rasboras, 2 SAE, 2 Ottos, 10 Glass Shrimp, tons of snails

Now the Pics:

It's brilliant! Well done! Looks so like a water forest or something. I wish I could do that! How long did it take you to set up the whole tank? (e.g putting in the plants, gravel, water)

It didn't take long at all. I put in the Flourite and a few plants and let it the dust settle for a day or so. Luckily I had a seeded filter off of my 75 gallon so I didn't have to let it cycle. This tank has only been up and running for four months now. When the Botopia break through the surface i just cut and replant. Same thing for that Vals, when they start coming around the front. I cut and replant along the back. It has filled in quite nicely. But there is still some empty space along the back of the tank that is annoying me. A few more weeks and that will be all taken care.

What a beautiful tank! I love planted tanks. I have all lowlight plants in my tanks at this point, but I would love to have a setup like yours one of these days. Great job!

Thank your for all the positive comments guys. This is my first attempt at a planted tank and it quickly became my favorite of all of my tanks. Its hard to believe that it has done so well when I can't evey keep my lawn green, but this thing is beautiful!

Thanks again!
