Very nice tanks! Thanks for sharing them.
I love the fry pics and you have some nice looking fish. Are they as mean as they look?

Shawnie- Thanks!

Lucy- Thanks! and No, they are not as mean as they look. The large Male Red Fin is actually the biggest baby. Just walking past the tank about 6ft away, he hides under the tree. The Yellow Lab and Females are just like "whatever". lol The small Red Fin was just recently separated from the main tank about a week ago.

We thought he was a she until we got back from vacation and he looked like the pics above. When we bought the tank it came with the fish you see (3 females) WRONG! lol

Here is what he used to look like.

BAD NEWS!! Heater malfunctioned (I assume) and killed the small Male Red Fin in the 2.5Gal. Turned on the light and my oldest daughter goes "He's upside down". I went "WTF!" Stuck the tip of my finger in the tank and it was HOT, not just really warm but hot. The reason I assume it was a malfunction was that even though the kids can reach it, I have never witnessed them playing with the heater. They would tap the tank to get him out from behind the rock but not touch the heater, light, or filter. Unless they bumped it. Either way it was not what I wanted to see after getting hope that he was going to be healed, fully colored and looking to sell/trade him in to a better home (LFS).

Other then a slight hazyness to his eyes yet, he was 100% healed and looking awesome with the sparkly spots and color really starting to come out. As I posted in the cichlid section, I partially blame myself for using a 3-4yr old heater by Radiant?? which is also an HOB.

Poor little one. That's definitely a heater malfunction. We lost a trio of baby albino LFBN plecos to a heater going nuclear exactly like that a few months ago.

We were talking about him dying the other day and with out thinking I said "With death there is life" (pointing to the fry). So it is not a complete loss and I am going to say the babies are his. BTW.. anybody in the Milwaukee/Chicago area looking for Red Fins?
