Fish Bum
|
Nicks 39 gallon
Been up and running for a few months now.
Contains:
2 Dwarf Gouramis
1 Rainbow Shark
1 Silver Shark
2 BN catfish
3 Cory Cats
3 Zebra Danios
8 Neon Tetras
3 Ramshorn Snails
HMS Hood
Lots of Hygorphilia, swords and anubis.

Rainbow Shark

A couple of the neons

Dwarf Gourami
My tank is bordering on overstocked, but my nitrates consistently read 0 so I'm going to need to invest in some more fertilizers. Currently I only use iron and hope my fish will provide the CO2 and nitrates.

yes, but its my second try at it. The first I got 3 striped barbs and they destroyed everything, so I got rid of them and started again.

The hyrgophilia has been growing like crazy and it needs a prune. If I cut the tips off, would I be able to plants these back into the gravel?

yep. Mine is taking over my tank, and new shoots are forming. If you prune the tops, and plant the cuttings they normally grow out nicely.

hmmm.... It was LABELLED hygrophilia at the LFS, but after doing some research it looks different to all the pictures I've seen. If anyone has a better ID, I'm all ears!

thanks 8). The plants are looking fantastic, and my nitrates are staying undetectable. I've been amazed at the growth of my BN pleco's.

Interesting discovery about the mystery plant in the back. The clippings off. the top contain the meristem, which excretes the growth hormones that keep the rest of the plant growing. Hence, if you cut the top off, the plant stops growing. I now cut top 15cm off them each week and plant that, removing the base. Each week they grow back bushier and look better. I'm also thinking that as they grow rapidly, they'll consume more ammonia/nitrates than usual. Also... i'd still love to know what it is =P
