80g Oscar tank
I went camara happy last night and decided to take pics of my new 80 gallon tank. It is front and center in my living room, and is much better to sit and watch than the tv that used to be there  Right now I have a young tiger oscar named Baloo (after the bear from jungle book). He is so friendly and is always the first to greet me when I walk past the tank. He is such a glutton and loves his food. Right now his tankmates are a convict named Cool Hand Luke (my husband named him), a jack dempsey named Ruckus, and a blood parrot named Kuppa. Jack Dempsies and Blood Parrots are questionable tankmates for an Oscar since they can be aggressive, but right now everything is working out great. They are only half the size of Baloo and he definetly rules the tank. Please let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions of how to make it better, please let me know. Thanks! |

BEAUTIFUL fish ! nice looking tank also..I have oscars with jd's and it works fine for us.....at feeding time we feed all of them out of our hands...their are just like puppies!

Thanks Shawnie! We feed Baloo out of our hands too. The others haven't quite gotten used to it yet. I am glad that you have had good luck keeping Oscars and Jack Dempsies together because I really love Ruckus and don't want to have to get rid of him. Hopefully we will have good luck with our combo of fish.

JD's love places to hide and you have that as I saw in your tank...they take a lil longer to warm up to you but they eventually are super...I love the fish greetings at the door or whenever you walk by..they are always begging...I have two convicts also, but they are too small for the big tank...and im saving for even bigger tank for all of them......heres my reggie n jack eating...

Awwwwwww! They are so cute. Jack is so beautiful! I hope that Ruckus looks that good when he gets bigger. Right now he is only about 3 inches  |

they grow fast!! Jd was only 2 inches about month n half ago...now hes about 4-5 inches ...im still trying to sex my two haha...always a chore ...

Thanks! I felt bad because Ruckus and Kuppa kept picking on him today. I am not too worried though cause convicts are tough little fish and can usually fend for themselves pretty well |

Actually right now the most aggressive one is my blood parrot Kuppa. I will definetly be keeping an eye on him. I'll take him back if he gets to aggressive, but I knew going into this that the combination of fish that I picked was going to be a gamble. As of right now, the JD, Convict, and BP chase eachother around and Baloo, my oscar, just kinda swims around oblivious to the whole thing |

Beautiful fish! I think Ruckus is my favorite I love his colors! JDs are cool fish If only I Had another 55 gallon...I'd totally get myself a cichlid tank. But alas, right now I don't have the money or space lol.
I like the tank too, especially the round black stones you've got - very pretty |

Very nice fish! I hope to keep some of them by next year, most specifically some blood parots. Yeah I've read keeping JD's and parrots with oscars can be a risk but I'm glad in your case it's working out just fine. Once again, nice fish.

Gamer, just a heads up, Blood Parrots are super aggressive. Kuppa keeps picking fights with everyone in the tank and is getting to be a little bit of a problem. I may have to take him back, but I am not sure yet. He doesn't bother my oscar because he's so much bigger, but my jack dempsey and convict are constantly being chased by him.
So far I have really been enjoying the tank. I also added a royal pleco to the tank. He is a beauty, but I can't get a pic yet because he is always hiding during the day. One of these days I'm sure I'll get a good one though.
