My Planted 29 gal

Well, it's finally up and running. It was fully cycled before adding plants (just because I had been running that filter on another tank for a few weeks, so when I transferred it I made sure to "feed" the bacteria until the plants were added).

Have a lot more plants than I expected, but it made the tank look nice so oh well...

3 weeks ago, waiting for plant delivery:

Now:

Critters in the tank so far

4 Ghost Shrimp

2 Neon Tetras (will be 8 when I'm done) -- you can see the reflection of my hand and camera in this one...oops lol

4 Oto Cats

There are also a plethora of mystery and MT snails, since I didn't de-snail the plants before putting them in the tank. Happy about the MTS, ambivalent about the mystery snails.

More to come as the rest of my fish are purchased, quarantined, and added.

Thanks guys...hopefully I can keep it all alive. Everything has grown a bit already, so hopefully it will work out.

Had to move the tank from the entertainment center it was on...if you look carefully you can see that the top started to warp just in the time it was there. Of course I didn't notice until AFTER everything was in the tank.

We only have to lift and move it about 3 feet so I took out the NT, drained in down to about 2" of water, then the DH and I moved it over carefully...it seems to be okay, and is one a "real" aquarium stand now...

My quarantine should be emptied this week so I can get the rest of the NT then.

wow looks awsome!

not saying it looks bad without it, but a plain black background makes the plants look AMAZING! i had close to 15 plants in my tank when i added my background, and the tank looks WAYYY better

great job, keep up the good work

Yep, it has a background now. I knew I needed to move the tank to the other stand so I didn't bother putting the background on until after that. It's one of those plain black/plain blue double-sided ones, so I have it on black right now.

Thanks for the suggestion though...I totally agree. I managed to misplace my camera battery charger, so whenever I find that back I'll take more pictures. Everything's growing like mad: I have to trim the cabomba today since two plants are poking through the surface and plant one of the amazon sword plantlets which is getting massive. Several vals are at the surface and curving over.

I'm going to need another tank for all the cuttings soon

Picture Update

It's only been a little over a week and things are growing pretty well. I trimmed back the Cabomba today and took those two big baby Amazon Swords in the middle of the tank and planted them, so the middle is more open now. These pictures are from before the cleanup though, to show what's grown in such a short time. Biggest noticeable difference in the Cabomba I think.

Overall tank:

Driftwood:

Right Side:

View from Right End:
(aka, the tangled jungle)

Left Side:

View from Left End:
(all the Neons are in the tank now)

That's all...thanks!

Thanks all! It actually wasn't supposed to look this "full" yet, but my plant order came with about 50-75% more plants than expected, and many of them were HUGE (I mean, look at that Amazon Sword on the left...it's ridiculous).

I lost a few Pennywort (foreground, left side, stalks w/ round leaves on top), but the only ones I lost were one leaf...the larger ones are doing okay. Everything else has done very well with minimal die-off.

That's Java Moss (Vesicularia Dubyana). It's also covering the little cave thing on the right.
