Just installed my UV Sterilizer... fun!

Here's the pic of the UV in line after my XP2....

This ought to help me get rid of the ICH....

The first time I did it, I cut the tubing too short from the XP to the intake of the UV... so when I hung the UV the host kinked...

When I re-did it, I lost about .5 gallons on the floor...

oops! (to the water on the floor). I have that same stand and tank (46Gal bow front from Marineland..I think ) Have to post if it works or not. I read a little bit that it helps with killing algae (that is floating) and was thinking of it, but it is probably just a waste for me. How did you get it to sit up there?

The UV came with 2 mounting clips. One had a suction cup on it and the other had a hanging bracket. I removed the cup and bracket and used 1in drywall screws to hold the clamp to the back of the cabinet. I still need to mod the UV body so it fits better now that there are screws in the way.

I pre drilled all the holes too.

I got it because it was on sale for $84 at bigals, and I thought it would help with the ich battle...

I've heard the same thing about algae, I hope it leaves enough for my Otos!

It shouldn't do anything to the algae that is hanging on the to gravel, decorations, or glass. I think it would help limit it, but don't think it will remove it. How many watts is it? looks like an 18w i think?

I have had problems with ich in the past I have read and with experiance keeping the tank at a steady 80f or a tad higher will prevent the ich eggs/larva from hatching so then all you need to contend with is the existing ich instead of it reproducing I keep my tank at 80 after that and have not had a prob since. plus I don't like putting chemicals in my tank to begin with
