Firecracker's 30g-new pix

OK picked up my first fish! The dog is fascinated and the cat couldn't care less, go figure.

Our tank (used) came with the Parthenon thingy, but we may get rid of it in favor of driftwood. It provides better hiding places, and will also have more room to plant more plants. I'm going to give these a few months to get established before adding more. I threw in some fake plants along the back to make it look less ... sparse.

These are the two 99 cent platies, Merry and Pippin.

Two rainbowfish, Steve and Dave.

And now with driftwood ...

Yeah the Parthenon looks cool but I've always been a sucker for natural looking aquascaping...driftwood would look fantastic

Cute puppy by the way

By Partheon do you mean Preacox (Dwarf Neon Rainbows)? If so, they get pretty once they are settled!

No, I meant the fake ruins thingy that came with our tank.

I think they are Praecox ... they were mixed in with reds and Boesemanis. Steve has a red sheen and definite red on his fins, but Dave is bigger and all silver so I don't know what he will look like.

Yeah, it's kind of cool, but I wouldn't have bought it ... it just came with it. We'll get driftwood later on I think.

Thanks everyone! Reno (puppy) is pretty cute ... he's the first floppy-eared dog I've ever had and he's quite a character. He's half border collie and half springer spaniel, we think. His sister Rubi is border collie and German shepherd and she is much more aloof ... kind of like a slightly snooty older sister.

So, we'll let these guys get settled in, and the next is some kind of algae eater like BN pleco or maybe some shrimp. I haven't decided yet.

Half Border Collie and Half Springer Spaniel. Wow, that a whole lot of energy in a little package. Your tank looks great. I love platies. They are so calm and have the best personalities.

he loves to play, but at the same time he is also perfectly happy to lay on your feet and chew something. He's only 1, 1 1/2 maybe.

The platies are turning out pretty cool! They definitely come and check you out when you are looking in, and they go nuts when we feed them.

The rainbows are kind of shy ... they will hide if you move outside the glass, but if you stay still they will creep back out and swim back and forth in front of you. My fiance invented weird voices for them to talk in. LOL

Love the pics and if you want to get rid of the ruins decor, maybe you'd want to bring it tonight to the Aquarium Society meeting to get a few bucks for in the auction or sell outright?

Yeah I might do that! They're like $40 in the store, so hopefully somebody would like it.

Tonight though? Not sure I'll have it out yet. Maybe next time.

You could still come over.. and take some more fish home.. it's hard to resist that urge when the auction starts.

Thank you I think it will look nicer with a big chunk of driftwood though. But this isn't bad.

It varies since members bring in different stuff each month, but we bought 3 beautiful albino BN pleco young at the last auction (that a stupid heater cooked) and the month before had some too. You can usually find cichlids and plecos in the auctions.. and plants & shrimp.. and we usually bring in 2 or 3 bags of endlers

Love the names. Steve and Dave. Did you name them after fanboy? I am a Kevin Smith nut.

Yup, my fiance thought of that I named my motorcycle BooBooKittyF--- for no good reason other than it cracks me up.

Our new clown pleco is Crusty (as in Crusty the clown)
This isn't him, just a Google image. He's kind of hard to photograph since he likes to hide.
