It takes less watts of T5 lighting to equal the same output as compact fluorescents. Here is a headache for you. Read up!

Anyhow, if you go to this link you can read the brief summary of what I did to change the substrate out.
Hi!

How can I thank you? Lol

Well, if you look in my Aquarium info you'll see the plants in there now .I'm thinking of ripping out the Elodea, and using a mix of Stargrass, Camboba (Which I already have) and Ludwiga sp. 'cuba', perhaps some Ambulia. I'm going to turn my log into a Java-moss log, use some Pygmy chain sword for the foreground, add some Brown wendtii crypt, Echindorus 'red diamond' and possibly some Ludwiga glanduosa if I can find it for the middle.

Ahhh, I was leaning towards that, but about a week ago then I had one of those "mad scientist" flashes, and now it's not going to be an issue...hehehe (VERY evil laugh). My swamp tank is amazing, and running fine, so now all my attention can be refocused on my column tank... BWA HA HA... opps, sorry. I had a thought, that if I can make work... will make this even cooler looking than the swamp tank... (I hope)

Oh, and speaking of the swamp, check this out. It's a post I started last night with a pic of my tank a month ago and then yesterday. http://www.fishlore.com/fishforum/me...nth-later.html
I was a little startled at it myself, you don't notice how fast things grow until you do this. Anyway, i'm not telling you to show off my tank. I want you to do the same thing in about a month. Try and position your camera as close to the pic you posted here, them post them together so we can check out how the plants are growing. MrWaxHead has about 6 months of pics on his tank, and I just started doing mine, by all means join the fun!

I spent an hour and a half chopping everything up 2 nights ago. I removed every stem plant and cut the bottom off, "topped" all the ludwigia, and replanted it. In a month, hopefully I'll be right back where I was at the beginning of this post.

Hi!

Sounds cool! I can't wait to get some new lights and some more plants for mine! I've found some Brown wendtii crypt, Ludwiga sp. 'Cuba' and Althenatera reinckii on eBay that I'm going for this weekend. Does this sound good? I really need some opinions from Planted tank people right now.
