Some pics in progress.

HOB Filter still running with about 2-3" of water in it.

"Glue" I am going to use for the rocks.

Some more pictures

Front shot of setup on towel.

Setup with partial water

Setup with water.

Waterfall closeup attempt.

Waterfall closeup of the side attempt.

Waterfall from the top.

The water is still kind of colored from the rocks being dirty. I cleaned them off with water and a sponge/scrub pad only for this.

This is probably a dumb question, but what exactly is a terrarium?

My custom intake tube, lol

A terrarium is land and water in a tank.

Terrarium searched

Paludarium Searched (I think this is the correct term.

A minimum of a couple/few frogs. Not sure yet on the fish. Was told Danios would probably be the best bet as they are a little quicker if the frogs would try to eat them. Not 100% on the fish though.

Have fun lol
I wouldn't mind learning how to do that someday. I will be building stands for my two 10g aquariums in my woods class though.

That's cool. Good luck with it.

The 20Gal sits on a dresser that doubles as storage for the fish extras and our kids board games. This also sits in the dining room. lol

It's not that hard to do, just a lot of patience, especially with the stone. I bought slate tiles from our local hardware store because the LFS wanted $2/lb. I was going to get 4 rocks until they totaled 26lbs at $53!! Bought 5 slate squares measuring 16x16inches for under $20. Then sat in the living room with a towel and hammer breaking all the pieces up. Had to rinse and scrub some "rusty/slimmy" stuff off some of the pieces. And make sure you use aquarium safe silicone if you need to adhere anything in the tank.

Dang I guess that's expensive.
I would like to learn how to build the glass tank part of the aquariums because when I get older I would love to create my own fishstore.

Actually I think the LFS said they were getting Red (Fire) bellied frogs or toads as the google search seemed to pull up. Reason is they are aquatic and land which is the goal with this tank. The ADF's are 99% aquatic I think. Is there any other frogs that are fairly come and would go with fish that you or anybody else can think of?

I do not think that it would be a good idea to put FBT"S in there with danios. That would probably be a species mixing disaster. Go to the caudata forum on www.caudata.org. Sometimes you might be successful. For example, I've heard of people who have housed white cloud minnows with amphibians. Usually though, it's not a good idea. Here's a link to species mixing disasters: http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/M...isasters.shtml.

Thanks for the links. It was just brought up by the LFS as I wasn't sure on the type of frog it was. I am still guessing on the type of frog, but that is what sticks out in my mind.

Fire bellied toads secrete a toxin out of there skin and can harm the fish. Take that into consideration. I would get some feeder guppys with the ADFs at first . Just a few to test out if they will hurt them or not so you dont loose 5 2-3$ tetras. Therefore losing 15$ and instead you lose 50 cents. Just a thought

If it comes down to it, we don't have to do the fish. I just wanted more fish and she wanted the frogs. I was trying to find that happy medium. We already have a 46Gal with fish so I would be able to sacrifice this tank for frogs only. I would still like a frog that is both land and water though... the ADF's if I remember correctly along with quite a few other frogs are 99% water and just need a "pad" at the surface to hang onto for air.

Actually you could keep the waterfall and use one of these. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...Ntk=All&Ntx=mo I have seen them in just about every pet shop. One of my local shops actually has a tank similar to yours ( minus the waterfall) that has FBT and one of the turtle docks with various stones in it. It also has some small tetras that are fairly inexpensive.

Also its not so much with compatibility in your case, but also you have to take into consideration the size of your tank. You could very easily mix species in like a 55 gallon tank but in a 20 gallon your choices are very limited. I hope you understand. Its better to have one happy frog than numerous unhappy, sick, uncomfortable, and maybe even dieing frogs.

Also if you decide with FBT you will need a basking spot created by the use of a heat lamp. You could have about 3-4 of them in a 20 gallon tank. It should be approx 50/50 land water, which yours pretty much is. Also when you buy FBT make sure they are close to the same size, as they will eat FBT that are smaller than them.

If you wanted a tank mate for the FBT then you could add a Fire Bellied Newt as well. Also I'm not sure of the compatibilty of ADF's and FBT's. I will try to find that info for you.

Thanks!

I think in the end we might just do the newt and/or just Fire Bellied Toads. I was just hoping to get more out of the tank and possibly not have to get a new filter. If it's for the best well being, I have no problems buying whats needed, or changing my route I wanted to take.
