I am 99% sure you have a male. I went back to the pictures you posted on page 2 where you have a picture of it swimming mid water. It was when you got the new powerhead.

I then compared it to 2 pictures from Cichlid-forum.com which I have posted below. The picture by Alan Rosenthal is the male, the picture by Jason Johnson is the female. Credit is theirs for the pictures.

Look at how the male's dorsal fins is sort of longer and elongated yet the female's is almost at a 90°; the red arrows indicate where to look. That is what leads me to believe you have a male.

Best I could do to help so I could be wrong.

Thanks! I would have to go with that as well. The female is more yellow too as the male is a gold. Also it looks like the female has actual lips. lol

Thanks for the help guys.

Got some more pics. Setup after I cleaned up the decorations and stirred up the gravel (no siphon or gravel vac).

Day shot of new setup. And you can see a decent shot of the Female Red Fin.

Yellow Lab poking his head out.

Side shot of the tank with the Male Red Fin.

Looked like they were schooling. Swam from one side to the other and back around together.

Yellow Lab again scoping out the place. Actually not under the rocks or hiding.

Just another Day shot.

Night shot with the Yellow Lab sitting over the tree.

Where did you get that bubbling rock in the middle of your tank? I love it. I love things that bubble, I just took out a bubble curtain bc I'm going for a more natural planted look.

It's just a standard 6" (i think) bubble stone. Can find it HERE. Obviously that is just one place. They are pretty common though. The air bubbles might look different because I have a splitter on it and using it to restrict the air flow so there isn't an abundance of bubbles. I too agree on the natural look, but read that our Cichlids will usually uproot and eat the plants.

In their holding cell while I was going to clean their tank. WE HAD BABIES, which can be seen in the 2.5Gal? post.
