Yea, yo-yo's are great. Even though my 56g is primarily a Central/South America tank, I could use a yo-yo or 3 to keep the snails under control. Unfortunately, the only place that consistently has them around here is PetSmart, and I refuse to buy fish at the one nearest to me anymore. So I'll have to go a bit to another one to get some.

I have yet to find them in Denver. But they'd get too big for most of our tanks anyways and I would wonder how they'd do with Julies and Angels in the Cichlids tank.

they should get along fine with the juliis, and I don't see any problem with the angels either. That is, unless you have some mutant terrorist corycats.

Julidochromis marlieri (Julies) not Julii cories, actually.

From what I read about yo-yos, they get along fine with other bottom feeders, and only sometimes get aggressive towards smaller fish (like the poor, picked-on neons ). Anything from a mid-size tetra up should be fine with them.

lol, no problem. they sound the same. Our Julies are still pretty young and haven't formed a breeding pair yet, but when they do we'll just have 2 Julies and our 1 angel (2 when we find a good female for him) in a 30g tall tank. The cichlids and yoyos have adult sizes of about 6" so 1 or 2 would be the most that I could fit in the tank I think. Any opinions? Is the 30g tall big enough for 2 Julies, 2 Angels and 2 Yoyos?

what kind of filter system are you running? I tend to get a filter bigger than needed and then that way have a little more leniency in terms of stocking. Not hugely over the limit, but a few extra inches per se

That's the tank that a friend gave us, so we have the stand, filter, etc that it came with. All we've replaced as far as hardware goes is the tube since we wanted a better one for the cichlids. They were in & out of fishkeeping pretty quick and you wouldn't believe how dirty the tank was inside. It had been kept in a hot garage during the summer in florida with nothing running and unbelieveable, 2 plecos and a male platy were still alive in it. Anyway, he had no manuals, but I'm pretty sure it's the Tetra Whisper Power Filter 60 (330 GPH). I've also got a sponge filter in there that I added but that was really mostly for cycling the tank. Funny enough, I'll often see a Julie or 2 hanging out on the sponge so I've just left it in there for them.
