I just wanted to plug my new video of my clownfish. She's taken to the Green Star Polyps. I'd put the video on here but it's pretty big and takes a millenium to load on the forum. Here's my Youtube page. You can watch it there right away and leave a comment. lol http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=GozerB
Enjoy.
LOL I figured it out. The video should load fine for anyone. Here it is.

I picked up my new 75 gallon tank today. I'm going to start filling today. I'll be using well established filter media and will add probably 25% mature water when everything gets moved over. Everything is so mature i don't expect too much trouble with my cycle. The old 55 is being traded for some computer parts. Anyway, here's a picture of it empty.
you lucky SOb lol that loooks like the same tank ill be getting in the summer. Good luck with it and keep up posted. I can wait to get mine. What atr you going to use fore filtration? a sump, fuge, or both?
I'll be using a combo of sump and canister. It's the same plan I had for the 55 but now I don't have to build a new stand to fit the 20 gallon sump. I'll be moving everything from the 55 to the 75 when it's ready. Just got back from the store with 65 gallons of purified water. Man you get some weird looks buying that much water. No one ever asks why though. Well, back to filling.
lol people looked at me funny when i bought 20 gallons of bottled R/o water at the local supermarket ill invest in a home r/o system before i buy 60 gallons of bottled R/o
Well it's full and got some PHs running. Temperature is slowly climbing. Cloudy but getting better. I've discovered I will be unable to use a canister filter with my sump when it's ready. Won't have the room. Oh well gonna incorporate it all into the sump. Need baffles, return pump and overflow box and I'll be ready to setup the sump. Thinking about dual overflow boxes with the return in the middle of the sump. One side for skimmer, the other for refugium. I'll Tee off one overflow to start but I think I'd like to have two boxes in the long run. Help keep the surface skimmed clean. Here's a couple pics of it now. The first is a lesson in recycling which I'll be doing tomorrow as you can see.
This tank is SO much higher quality than the Walmart 55. The glass is MUCH thicker. From 3/16 inch to 5/16. Almost double. The silicone on the corner edges is black giving it a framed appearance.
Well, I hope to move some sand over when the temp gets up. 70 right now with 2 200W heaters going. Thinking about snagging one of the ones in the 150gal to get some heat going. I think the salinity is good. I'll know more precisely when the temp gets up to 80.
No way I'm gonna sleep much tonight. It's like Christmas Eve but "Christmas" is at least a week away lol. It's going to be so freakin awesome. Guess I'll read another page about DIY sumps lol.
Well tomorrow is the day. I'm off work and have the whole day to spend. The tank looks great but very empty. I've swapped water with mature from the 55 a couple times and everything else is well established so I'm not worried about the cycle. I expect a little imbalance anyway. Can't wait!!! The tank is now located in my room so the Remora skimmer will give me nightly encouragement to get an overflow and return pump so the noise maker can at least go underneath. Maybe the white noise will help me sleep lol. Doubt it. Anyway, I hope to have pics up Thursday after everything settles.
WOW, it looks SO good. Still a little hazy but mainly air bubbles. I opted to leave out the preskimmer box that goes to my skimmer. Supposedly it increased it's performance 20% and it did help keep the top scum cleared but the thing takes up SO much space. The skimmer will go in the sump soon enough anyway. $200 for the 2 things to get the sump going. (pump and overflow) Maybe next month. I'm a little concerned about light but it seems to ok for now. I have 260Watts of CFL. Gonna have to boost my cleanup crew some too.
Oh one other thing. The second photo is from underneath the tank. It's a peanut worm. Didn't even know it was in there till I saw it from below. LOL I always wondered what it would look like from the bottom.
Did my first water change on Saturday and some prechange testing. Had a fraction of a hint of Nitrate but everything else was aok. I picked up soem Magnesium, Strontium and Iodide supplements a while back and they all read good now except I need to back off the Iodide. It was kinda high. The Nitrates are probably from a minicycle.
It's amazing what the extra 6 inches do for the tank. It looks more like a scene from the sea than a pile of rocks in a tank now because it has a nice "field" of sand in front. My roommate gave me a few really nice shells to spice up the plain white sand. All the livestick is doing really well though the Chromis are still a little on edge. The Clown went right back to business as usual. I tried to keep her setup somewhat the same. She is still into the Star Polyps and has taken to the nearby Zoo colony as well. There is no sign of the vevlet or ich that I thought the Clown had developed. I raised the temps to 82ish for a couple days and the spots faded. They were gone before the transfer from the 55.
