| They're amazing!!! Such lovely color at such young ages. Looks like they're showing quite a bit of attitude already, too. Have you started separating any yet?
Just can't get enough of your pictures of them. Thanks again for posting them! |

I, too, keep staring at Karen's shots as well as yours. I open some of them up two or three times, then go back and open them again. |

| Thank you all for the nice comments on my "Pride and joys"....
I have not started to seperate them yet...We have a battle every now and then but for the most part they all seem to get along...I'm watching them closely and if a problem arises I have 30 3/4 gallon tubs awaiting....
If I have to guess how big they are without measuring them I'd say 3/4 of an inch for the biggest ones.....I also have some tea tiny ones in there that are around 1/4 inch.....They all grow at a different rate for some reason....
Red.....I will have some available for sale the end of next month....Not sure what the shipping to you would be but Allie may be right.....She may be closer and cheaper... |

I think just b/c some betta are dominant compared to others in the the race to get food. It's like the bigger ones push the little ones out of their way when food comes around.
Some are so tiny I cannot see them unless I put in a net. The ones I can see are ones I am getting good pixs of. Hey Red this time of year isn't the best to ship betta in Canada. Our trans shippers won't even do Thailand orders until March/April depending on the weather. Last edited by Allie; December 2nd, 2008 at 11:09 AM.

If this is true then I guess that is why you have some smaller and some larger babies. Anybody else hear of this and is it true?
PS - I want a baby from both you and Allie. Just let us know when and how to place a request and send money. |

I am not sure about the larger ones being the only ones releasing hormones tho. I think they all do, which is why we need to daily water changes. |

| I also read that....It makes sense to me....Mine are all different sizes because I have 4 seperate spawns all in the same grow out tank..The spawns are 2 weeks apart so they were big enough to share the tank and not in danger of being eaten....I have about 40-50 fry out of all 4 spawns...Many of the little buggars die off by the end of the 1st month....
Emory, you can PM me for details on purchasing and shipping...Just let me know what you are looking for.... |

| Allie....How are you doing your water changes? I syphon the bottom and replace the water taken out daily.....It is about 10% at the most...I also run 2 sponge filters at each end of the tank...This seems to be working.... |

I think it's why so many are born at first. Survival of the fittest is pretty much what seem to go on in most fry tanks. |

| That's usually how it works in nature, the more offspring there are the more likely that only a few will make it in the end.
Also it's true that it's too cold to ship right now... may have to put one on hold then, or from a future batch. sorry mm |

They are in a 33g so I just take about 4/5g out each water change, it fill the bucket. Then I scan the bucket for the itty bitty fry. Usually find a few, but not last night water change. They must be getting stronger.
No filter yet...these guys are too small for big movement. The sponge filters are suppose to be best tho. That what I will be getting soon.
I've been following this book: He is/was apart of the IBC. http://www.amazon.com/Bettas-Robert-.../dp/0764116533 |
