| Karen....you are awesome. It is so great we all get to share this with you. And your female is beyond beautiful!!!!
I think now all the fishlore betta people will have to make their way to your house to buy bettas!!!
Wasn't it a few short months ago you got your first betta...LOL!!
I see many Zazzle projects in your future oh wonderful one!!

| Thank you Val, I've had Will for years...But you are correct it was in May when my obsession started lol I just can't help myself! It's the "Mommy" in me that drives me to want babies....Ever since Anberlin moved my life has been so empty...This has filled a void for sure...
I need to get on Zazzle and create some new projects....Rose had put a request in for some T-shirts....I'll try and do that this weekend....
Thanks again for all the support I have received from my fishlore buddies! |

| Day 9....The babies are really starting to grow...I can see them swimming around when I open the tank....I keep cling free wrap over the top so no drafts get in and it also creates a lot of humidity which is good for the developing fry.....
Here they are at day 9....I can count as least 20 but there are probably way more hiding in the plants....Also, here is their wonderful Daddy taken after the spawning...Quite amazing that neither parent got ripped up during the difficult spawning process..... |

I am thinking on getting a few males and females. I would like to try a different kind of dragon with her to see what colors come out.
I got some supplies on Friday...still need a few more things. I am going to email some of the breeders in Canada to see if they still have some of the HMs I am interested in. |

| Thank you all for the nice comments and support...
Things are going very well...As you may have noticed I have not been online much since I decided to take on this adventure of Betta breeding.....I can tell you this, it is time consuming! My day starts out checking and feeding the young fry...Then I move on to feeding all of my adults ( I have no clue how many I have now ) lol....I then do necessary water changes and normal maintance....I'm usually done around 11 and then it is time to feed the fry again lol.....
Well here is my little surprise....When I was shopping for my breeding stock I had looked and looked for a nice crownie...As some of you know the Crowntails are my favorite variety of Bettas with halfmoons being 2nd.....I had NO trouble finding my gorgeous foundation of halfmoons....I couldn't for the life of me find a Crownie that was better than one little boy I have here.....So here is what I decided to do to start my Crownie line.....
I bred Dunn to my Dragon girl! She was the one with the closest body color (gold) so I decided to give it a shot....My plans for the fry are to keep the best female and breed it back to Dunn....Hopefully this will produce a strong line of very nice Crownies....I'm new at this Betta breeding thing so this may all backfire on me...I just figured after talking to numerous people who have bred and shown that this may end up working...I have talked to a couple of people who ended up getting their 1st show fish out of a breeding like this one....So........
We now have Dunns baby fry free swimming in my spawning tank! I'll get some photos when I find time...I'm hoping for something really pretty in a lavendar color from this breeding....We'll see! He has been the picture of health from day 1 and has a lovely personality!
My next breeding will be my blue girl...She will be bred to her sibbling the dark blue/black boy...
Val, if you are interested and all goes well I'd like to send you one of Dunns kids...You have always admired him and I'd like to share a peice of him with you! Keep your fingers crossed the fry make it.... |

That is awesome about Dunn and the dragon girl...some cool colors and patterns could come out of that mix...some comb tails too. I was thinking on Hera and Rubin would create some interesting colors...possibly purple dragon comb tails.
Now Dunn was a Petco find wasn't he? You have had him long enough to have him in condition to breed. I was wondering that if the pet store boys were fed properly for a long time if they would have viable fry. So now you should be able to tell me, while I get Rubin all conditioned to try with Hera.
I need a few half moon girls of different colors for what I want to mess around with. I want more Crownies as they are MY favorites.
A new shipment of CT boys came in the LFS store on Friday...I think I am going to check em out this week. I also am getting second hand 2 heaters, and 2, 3g tanks all the fixins for $25 as soon as I get my butt out to get them. I am starting to collect small tanks and heaters so when I have fry they will have tanks of their own. |

| Wow, Dunn and the dragon girl!!! Hope they've made healthy, happy, gorgeous babies! How has Dunn been behaving as a daddy?
I'm so surprised about Patron. The way he flirts with you, maybe he only has eyes for you. Are you considering trying him with your other girl or another one?
Congratulations on a second successful spawn! This is so exciting! |

| Pam, I had said all along Patron was in love with his Mommy lol...It's OK..I wanted to give him a shot at it....He'll just be my little love bug forever....
Allie, I don't advise breeding pet store bettas...The only reason I tried this is because I have done enough research to know that Dunn is a quality boy.....The bad part is not knowing what is behind him.....This will be the only time I try something like this...From here on out it is back to business lol... |
