So I was just out browsing the other day at 2 of the 3
LFS (their fish delivery day) Both the stores were very busy..Me I'm just checkin everything out..I kinda wound up next to a woman and her young son,I kinda figured very new to fish and fishkeeping(they were discussing the tank,tanks,size ,plants,stones...etc...)well long story short ,they settled on cardinals and the little booy has his heart set on a pleco...heres the bad part,the employee..who has no idea about anything for fish was making recomondations,leaving out all the important parts (of course)..never even discussed and declorinators,water changes,CYCLING,nothing!!! Silently I was having a fit!!! He for some reason other than the right one was talking this kid out of the placo..his reason was......"they only eat algae,your tank is new...dont get one until it grows algae so then he will have something to eat".
Well sorry but I listened for only just so long....lol..lol.. I got the mom to the side and said sorry I dont mean to interup...but and I'm no expert...however i am working on almost 7 tanks, before everyone is ALL dissappointed,go on- line and check out FISHLORE.com...I told her let the young man do some reading (and her too)..how it can be one of the very best experiances he'll ever have especially if its done right..( I love to see kids interested in animals)I told her how beyond helpful everyone is on here,even with really dumb questions that i have asked,and how much he could learn about his new pets..and how much more rewarding it could all be when a little knowledge is picked up, I told her I love the store,but not enough information is given to any of the customers about proper care of any of the animals that are purchassed,fish most of all!!! She sincerly thanked me and said they would 'check it out"...so heres hoping
