Petco

Eek! The other day, I went to Petco. While I was there, I decided to take a look at the fish. And what I saw was not good. There was a dead fish at the bottom of the tank, and the other fish were EATING IT! I was positive it was dead because it was stiff, and it didn't have eyes. *shudder* They were the same type, also! When I looked at the other tanks, I saw a fish that was missing a fin. It looked like it was having trouble swimming. And the bettas! ACK! They weren't even moving! They just sat there looking depressed. So much for Petco saying that employees "check" on all of the fish every hour to make sure the are "comfortable."

Re: Petco

Well, to be fair, all fish will pick at/eat their dead tankmates. And even if they pull deads twice a day, there are always two or three they'll miss, or that will die during the day.

The other stuff is disappointing, though. Sick/injured fish should be moved out of the public eye to be treated. And bettas.. Selling bettas is just iffy, because they can't be kept together (although I wish they could, can you imagine how pretty of a tank that would be if the males would get along?), but space limitations keep them from being in comfortably sized containers. But that doens't mean that they should be neglected.
