anyone know anything about these? i've googled it and came up with very little!!

some say it isnt even a loach but a cyprinid?!
some say they get big, some say they dont.
some say they are agressive (mine so far isnt bothering my tetras at all), some say they're not.
some say they'll eat snails....mine doesnt(if only!)!!
some say they're really tough, mine has bright red slightly swollen gills with quite low ammonia levels (0.25).

so any opinions, thoughts, info, links etc etc would be most welcome!!! many thanks anyone else have one of these? if so, what tank mates does it have?

I had one that I baught from walmart! lol...pretty stupid huh? and it almost servived for one week and then it died. lol...I'm never going to make that mistake again.

but I would tell you about them if mine lived long enough for me to study it!
