Different loaches

Would a smaller loach do the same as a clown loach when getting rid of unwanted snails?

Re: Different loaches

I believe most loaches will eat snails, just some more than others, loaches also will not always get rid of snails completly just keep them under control, it depends. http://www.loaches.com/species-index...a-macracanthus check that out and look at my post for controling pest snails in the snail section.

Re: Different loaches

How big do Yo Yo loaches grow to? How many would I have to keep in my 28 gal tank?

Re: Different loaches

I think 6" look at the website but I think they like being in groups and you don't have room in your tank for them now, especially with all that fry.

Re: Different loaches

I'm aware of that. I'm saying after the fry all leave and I might move the clown loach to the 36 gal. and replace the CAE with a BN.

Re: Different loaches

I have 4 yoyos in a 55G tank that are a good five inches.
You can go to www.loaches.com and look at the species list. Then you can decide for your self which ones you like and see what size they will grow to and learn about their care. I believe Sidthimunki is the smallest loach and it will eat snails but... loaches are much happier in groups of three or more.
