skunk botia

1. Are they a good bottom feeder?
2. Do they school. How many should be in 1 tank.
3. Do they eat left over flakes?
4. Would they be fine with platy, danios, betta, and a yellow ram cichlid. Thanks!

I'd imagine that they would tear the betta to shreds. Skunk botia are quite aggressive and nippy in my experience.

They are a bottom feeder, but I'm not sure what your criteria for "good" is.

Yes, and at least five.

They probably would if they were hungry enough, but they prefer meatier foods. Loaches.com says "Will accept most brands of dry sinking catfish pellets, but should be offered a variety of frozen foods to supplement the diet - mosquito larvae, brineshrimp, and daphnia are usually taken with much enthusiasm. In the wild, this species feeds on mollusks, and as can probably be deduced, is a very effective snail eater." (source).

Probably not. The same loaches.com profile suggests tankmates that are "robust and fast-swimming". While the danios may fit that criteria, the others you have do not.

Then do you guys have another fish that would be a good bottom feeder? I saw these and they were cheap, so I thought I would look into them. Thanks

With the fish you have now, and in a tank that size, I would probably stick with a small school of some variety of Corydoras.

Skunk loaches are wonderful, active, littlefish that unfortunately need to be in a species tank all by them selves Mine were nicknamed the brat pack and they were just that
