Dojo or Kuli

Which sould I get 2 Dojos or 4 Kulis for my 29 gallon tank?

here are my "standards"

Some what active
Won't excape the tank!
Doesn't uproot plants
Doesn't need Super Clean water or lots of water changes
Fits in my 29 gal tank
Doesn't need a lot of special care
....
or if you know of any freshwater fish that are eel or worm like that meet my standard PLEASE suggest them!
Thanks

If it were me i would get Kuhlis, they're active alot of the time where as dojos sometimes sit around for hours on end. Am i right in saying dojo loaches are also known as weather loaches? If so, dojo loaches also tend to prefer cold water, i have one in my out door pond and its nearly a foot long

ok first what type of substratum do you have? i would say a round or smooth edged gravel would be best to enjoy these kind of fish more.second the kuhli will fit through the tiniest of openings so your aquarium must have a tight fitting cover but dont need alot of special care but like the temperature between 75-86f alot higher than the dojos i have kept dojos for years and they are very easy to look after and very fun to watch but if you a sand bottom plants will be uprooted but i had gravel at the bottom of my tank and never had one plant uprooted dojo like temperature between 64-68 both kinds of fish will fit into your tank as the dojos grow to 6in and kuhli grow to 3in let me know what you choose and i hope this helps

well here is more info upon request:
the tank is not setup yet but it will be a 29 (30x18x12gallon partially planted with pool filter sand substrate they will be housed with 2 Peacock Gobys, 6 Rummy Nose Tetras and probably some other fish.
Im already leaning towards Kulis

Hi Crimson,

you do not want to put dojo (weather) loaches in such a small tank. they grow over 12 inches long, which is longer then your tank.

in england, fish shops have to have a specific licence just to sell them since they're classed as people who use to keep them didn't know how big they got and let them out into lakes/rivers/streams which, ofc, is bad since they're not indiginous to the uk.

you would be better off with kuhli loach since they stay smaller and would be more suited to your fish tank.

4 kuhlis definitely, dojo loaches get pretty big and also prefer colder water as mentioned above. and kuhlis are wonderful

hello,

I would definitely recommend the khuli loaches. they are so interesting to watch, my loach is a bit of a crazy one and is quite active. He will swim up and down the tank for ages putting on his show. he's never dug up plants, but he does like burrowing in the gravel. they are such a great fish. you should definitely get some.

hope i've helped,
cheers!
