Sumo Loach? Will it eat snails?

Hi, I've been looking for something to eat my snails and most loaches I've seen are either too big, or need to be in too large a school to fit in my 18gal tank.

The Sumo Loach (4 inches) they say needs 20g and is territorial and a solo fish. I think that my heavily planted tank would keep the guy happy since it is so heavily planted despite being 2 gal short of the recommended, but I can find no information indicating that it will eat snails, which is the primary reason I am interested in this fish.

Anyone with any information to add to the limited info online, please help. Thanks

The body shape is much like the khuli loach so I would assume that it does not eat snails, Carol will be on soon and I am sur ewhen she reads this she will confirm either way.

i have read though that they are very territorial and you should only keep one per tank.

I really need a loach , have a 75 gall but have a smaller fish in the tank ! so don't want the loach to mess with them ! I have a lot of MTS in the tank and have just pulled them out and trashed them when they come to the top of tank!

well, in case anyone else is wondering about this loach, it probably isn't best in the typical aquarium, apparently it will only thrive in fast moving water similar to the conditions for hillstream loach.
