I;m just wandering if loaches sleep? i have 2 yoyo loaches and sometimes i find them hiding under my filters just laying there. i thought that they were sick and about to die but a couple hours later they were so energetic swimming around everywhere.

I'm pretty sure all fish sleep. I think it depends on the fish, some take naps through the day, some hide during the day and sleep and some sleep all night until the lights come on in the morning. They are sure are cute when they sleep!!!

hahaha i just re-read what i wrote and god that sounds dumb! i know all fish sleep, but yeah i was just worried about my loaches cos i thought they were dying. so they're good then!

Hehehe nah I knew what ya meant!!!! I think they are fine!!!! I have peacock eels and they do the same sorta thing where they just sit there sometimes and don't move. I think its has to do with since they are nocturnal like loaches, they try to find a place to sleep during the day even if its a odd spot. Its sooo cute!!!!!!!!

yeah i think it's so cute hoe they hide under my filter. i'd like to buy them a little tunnel like thing for them to go in and sleep.

My clown loaches also sleep behind the filter - drives me nuts! I'm always in a flat panic 'cos I think there is something wrong... my nerves!

yeah that's what i was doing! freaking out that they were going to die! well i'm glad there's nothing wrong!

My pleco (George) does the same... sleeps the whole day and at night he has a total party in the tank!! i have this skeleton sitting in a boat (tank decoration) - the head is loose and I usually place it in the skeleton's lap. But for some reason George does not want it there... during the night he will mess around with it. I always find it somewhere else in the tank except in the skeleton's lap. It's like it's becoming a game between George and me LOL!

My loaches seem to fall asleep at about 9pm at night but wake up before the sun comes up. It's really funny to watch them sleep, like the other night I had some friends over to have a look at my new setup and one of the loaches was flat on his side on the bottom of the tank, as well as the other seemingly floating dead in the water tumbling through the bubbles from the filter! They really are characters when it comes to how they sleep. I learnt after the first few days if I can't find them at night I've just accepted they're hiding somewhere sneaky to sleep and I'll see them in the morning
