When is a fry a fish?

I have 3 little platies that are a little over 1/2 inch, they have identificable markings and starting to get color. These were unplanned children. Probably survived due to extensive vegetation in my take. I do not have room for anymore adults, wondering at what point I should offer them to a store.

Re: When is a fry a fish?

Most stores want to put livebearers on display when they are around an inch in length. You would also have to phone the store and see if it okay to bring them in and also take them there in a bag of some sort to show the people that they are in good condition to sell. But you probably already knew all this.

Interesting question !

My LFS accepts the fry when the fry is big enough not to be eaten by adult fish n have developed the color.
So depends upon the lfs.

it might be better to give away the adults.
These fry are really young yet and still have many years in them still.
