Those fish are what the LFS call bread and butter fish because they are so common, and they sell a lot of them. I'd say the average price would be around an American dollar or two. Of course the fancy guppies, swordtails and mollies would be higher. I've seen trios of fancy guppies selling for $20.00 or more.

it depends on where you are. I sell my mollies for 2 for 1$ or 5 for 2$. And thats in canada and well its less than the american $.

ah.... here in the philippines.., they sell this livebearers 1 for half of 1$ guppy here in philippines is much higher.., they sell 1 for 2$.... ^_^...

That's almost worth a plane ticket for me in little old England!!! I just bought 3 Clown Loaches for £11.95 which is cheap here but mollies and platys are about £2.00 each. Things seem well cheaper in the states. Someone told me on another post that tanks are about $10.00 for a 10 gallon tank - the same tank here would costs £75.00 plus the heater, gravel and pump. - And don't get me started on petrol (gas).....

Tanks are realy expensive in canada!! A 2g can cost over $50!!!

The 10gal starter kit that my daughter just bought cost her $56 with gravel filter heater thermometer, tank light and hood. It was a good deal, from my LFS.

I just bought a 10G setup to use as a sick tank, and priced them at all the major stores. Petsmart, Petco and Walmart all price about the same. $29 for a 10G whole setup without heater. $39.99 for 10G setup with heater. Gravel is extra...like $5-6 at Walmart...they really are the cheapest on all that stuff and usually meds and food are freshest since that's where everyone buys it from. I wouldn't buy the fish there, because most likely they won't live and will infect your tank with all kinds of disease. Just my 2 cents.

i bought a 2gallon with lighting and comes with a high class filter for 20$, on sale it was a steal..it also came with a platic rock with holes for the fish to go into it and gravel, and a base filter, got it at petcetra

Do you live in the states? Because that is the almost the exact same deal I got from Wal-mart but I had to buy a heater seperate. Luckily, there is a used pet supplies store thatI got the heater(10 gallon), heater(28 gallon), filter(28 gallon) for about 1/4 of the new price. The gravel for a 2kg(5lb) bag is about $3.75ea without tax.

last year i got a 10 gal tank, with filter, heat, rocks, food, ect. for like 60-70 bucks canadian.
the pet store i go to on tues have 50% off on Any fish or Plants 10.00 and under. so my Groms they are like 3bucks then half so 1.50.
i got some oscars for cheap like 2 for 5 bucks,
red devil was like 4 bucks.

i get lots of plants on tues.

here in the uk where i am guppies cost £2 each in "pets at home" chainstore. in a smaller lfs near me they are £1 each.
my plecs were 2 for £5, but the common fish like livebearers, danios, tetras, rasboras are all about 5 for £5 or 6 for £6

to compare for tanks, my 15gal including stand, heater and filter was £110 at pets at home chainstore, so that was new. i'll never buy new again! cost a fortune! my two 28 gals incl stand and 1 heater, no filters was £76. the filters were about £15 each, so still a massive difference. just need to find a cheap small tank second hand for quarantine/poorly fish!!

My lfs has guppies for $3.99 each, discounts for 3 or 5. Platies are $1.89 each. Danios run about $1.89 as well, but I have seen some stores with them for 3 for $0.99, they didn't look so great though. Mollies seem to run about $3 each here. Swordtails are $2-3 depending on coloring apparently. These are all American dollars.

Victoria BC, I just bought a guppy for $6.99, I guess that's pretty expensive. It is a nice one, though.
