I am so sad!!!

Well, when I got home from school and was going to change for dance, I just had to go look at my tank!!! And I saw my platy near my smal rock thing, and then I saw a baby fry with huge eyes. Unfortunatley I did not see it fall from my platy, and right then my aquarium light went out. How can you tell the difference from platy and guppy fry. Both platy and guppy look rather pregnant to me! I also can't find that fry. I don't know if it was the begining of the happening or the end. I have been wanting fry for a while, so what do I do!!! They seemed smaller than when my molly gave birth though!!!

Please help....

Do you have another tank or a breeder box for the fry? If you do, you could remove the adult fish from your tank and put them in a clean bucket of tank water. You can use a flashlight to see the fry and net them. You may have to remove quite a bit of decor to get them all though. Even if you only get the one little guy, that is still great news! I found a swortail fry in my tank (I think all of the others got eaten). I raised him in the breader net and kept him until he was a full grown fish If you can post a pic of the fry, we can probably identify it

You just have to let it grow up a bit. They all look the same at first

I am not sure which fish was having the fry? Do you mean to look around in the decor!!! I have a fry tank for the mollies, they are old enough though!!! Should I put both in there?

how old are the new fry? and yes move the decor around the fry won't be able to hide from you if they don't have anything to hide in.

remove them and put them in a breeder box or net. If you don't have one a plastic container with a lid will do fine over night. float it in the tank to keep it warm

three weeks from when you noticed the fry I'd start looking. I pull out my fish 3 weeks after they last gave birth so that I can be sure to catch any of the babies that come out early.
