Question: I have a Mickey Mouse tail fish and a Sword Tail fish. They look the same to me other than the tail. The female is the mickey mouse and the male is the sword tail. Q: Can they bread or are they 2 different kinds of fish. If Yes how do I know when the female is pregnant

Your mickey mouse fish is a mickey mouse platy.

Platies and swordtails can and will breed even though they are two different kinds of fish. The female will look large in her stomach and there will be a dark "spot" around her vent. Any other questions feel free to ask.

Hold on. You said that your mickey mouse female looked like a sword. That is a true breed of sword. Mickey mouse swordtails. They will inbreed, but I tend to have trouble breeding out my swords. Good Luck!
