I just found out about live rock. I'm quite fasinating! They look beautiful! This is a question just out of curiosity more than anything. If you buy coral jewelry is this where it comes from? Can you take these beautiful colors they produce to create jewelry or other beautiful items? Or is it too soft? Does it continue to produce stones or does it eventually stabilize?

hi, the coraline algae that grows on rock is a calcium based algae...its not soft but I dont think you could easily use it to make jewellery. Something you could try is to get beads made of a stone and leave it in a tank where there is a good coraline growth and it will grow on the beads but I dont think it would survive out of water... not soo sure on that one!Sounds ncie tho!!

I am not sure if it comes from live rock as well, actually i am pretty sure it will die off the rock unless they seal it with some thing.
