When will color come??

My LR is changing colors but the real purpleish color doesn't come. I'm currenlty in a battle against green alage. I talked to my LSF and they said to turn off the lights if I'm not there or no one is there to see it. But what about when I get corals?? Also wound't the LR be affected?? The current colors on the LR are mostly green(think becuase of the green alage taking over) very little redish pink, and some little spots of orange. I bought two turbo snails to help but I don't think they can win. One dissapered( I have crabs so I'm thinking the crabs ate it). I'm planning on buying more turbo snails and a fan worm this weekend. What can I do to help the LR true color come out and stop the alage grow.

P.S. The lights have been off for about two days. The alage is not growing but also not dying.

check your phosphate levels as this causes hair algea to grow and stops coraline from growing ,, if you have high levels then you may be over feeding , do a 20% water change every other day and this will bring down your levels ideally to zero

My lights are not new. I've had them since I strated keeping SW. Everything is zero. I'll try to get a test kit for phosphate. I live in a small town and the fish store is about an hour away. I kinda have two fish. I have a three striped damsel but hes in a basket like thing for being to mean to the six line wrasse. I'm going to give him to my LFS ASP. My crabs are doing great and so is my snail at cleaning. I only feed once a day. I don't have any corals. I'm hoping with the lights out is will stop growing and give my snail a head start. I'm planning on buying like four more snails.

The lights being off is helping( I think). The lights have been off for about four days and the alage is not growing. The corline alage is growning on some parts of the LR. Was the light to high?? Why is it growing now??

I had problems with green and brown algae I turned my lights off for a whole weekend and all the green algae was gone and only a little bit of brown algae was left. When I tried this there was 0 fish or anything else in the tank though. I believe I saw something in stores some kind of drops to help kill algae you might want to look into that stuff. I saw it at a Petco
