| Well, here's my 2 cents...
I've had a dwarf lion for about 1 month now. That's not long, so I don't claim any expertise here, but I can share some observations. As far as tank mates...yes, they will definately look at anything in the 2-3" range as food. What I read before buying mine was anything 1/2 the lion's size or less will eventually be a meal. Mine went after a chromis that was actually a little more than 1/2 it's size. So, for tank mates, here is my opinion...you need to choose things that will be within about an inch of the lion's size. A dwarf will end up in the 6-7" range, so I would not choose a tank mate of less than 5". That brings us back to your tank size. Yes, they are fairly sedentary most of the time, so in my opinion, you could keep one in a 26 gallon tank). BUT, given what was said concerning tank mates, you're not going to be able to keep much else in the tank with it without overloading the tank in a hurry. You would also need to keep very close tabs on water quality, as lions are messy and will pollute. They will eat shrimp, though I have not seen mine pay any attention whatsoever to the crabs and snails I have in there with it.
Whatever all that is worth, I hope it helps! |
