Red aquarium lighting

Hi members of the forum
Will it be okay to put a red light bulb in my aquarium?

I don't see why it wouldn't be, but it will be harder to see in there. I tried those purplish looking plant lights in mine one time and it was so dim it wasn't worth it.

It might be aesthetically pleasing, if you really like the color red, but it's going to hinder your ability to see exactly whats going on in the tank, since everything will have a red tint to it.

I'm glad you like it. It's about what you find pleasing so it's good that you can customize it to your tastes.

My very first tank I ever had (like 14 years ago) was a 10 gallon tank with 2 juvie quarter sized piranha. I got jet black gravel, and put one of those red cylinder light covers over the light. It looked really cool. However I decided piranha weren't good fish in a 10 gallon tank. So it came down, but, I've always kept some kind of fish since then.
