Feature lighting

I purchased 55 gal tank and have been using the hood fluorescent lighting that came with it. What I think would be really neat would be to lower the intensity of the overall lighting and place some feature spot lighting to imitate rays of sunlight.

Any of you guys used this kind of effect or seen it? Thanks!

Never heard of anyone doing this, but it seems really cool! Some tiny fluorescent spot lights like the ones they use in art galleries might just be the ticket. There are spots with those adustable bendy-necks and even some assemblies on small tracks for ceilings. You should definately go for it, I would love to see it! check out some LEDs too

Good morning,

When I had my fish room built, I had the canister lights put into the ceiling over my 265g tank. Using flood lights, it gives the tank an entirely different look. I only use them on occasion when the tank lights are off. They also have a dimmer switch, mood lighting.

Too, I turn on the ceiling lights every morning before the tank lights come on. It helps to wake up the fish so they don't get that Rise and Shine shock of the tank lights coming on.

You can see one in the photo below:

Interesting - ya I was thinking something like track lighting on the ceiling or some LEDs - good suggestions, I will give it a shot and post some pictures if I can get the effect right
