Hey guys,
I went to wal-mart today and i saw some florcent black lights. Now im wondering what they would look like during the day or if you have to swap them out from day and night or what?

The bulbs look like this but different company.

I always thought a black light with glofish would be pretty cool.
Sorry, I don't know the answer to your exact question.

I bought some black lights for my tank because I wanted to do like a dead sea theme. I thought it would be great, turns out I couldn't see my fish...the only thing in my tank that showed up was the sails on my ship and the green part of my decorations of driftwood that is painted there....The tank was soooo dark. I hated it and ended up taking the black lights back to the the store.

Ok that helps alot now I don't want black lights but I do really like moonlight which I'm thinking about trying for when I go to bed and look at my tank. What do u think about those?

Glad I could help, sorry I wasn't trying to detour you on your decision. I just wanted to let you know my experience with the black lights. I knew some of my fish possibly wouldn't show up, but not even the silver mollies showed and they look white.

Sorry don't know anything about those. Hang in there maybe someone else will be able to help with that.

I'm going to approach this from a common sense point of view. You really want to mimic a standard day/night amount of light with your tank, right? If you only have a black light on during the day, isn't that going to mess with that theory?

ya thats also a good point Lynda, and asmith you didnt ruin it i was just thinking about it. But if i were to get moonlight would i keep my normal light on but slide the little moon light strip under my light?

I have heard that blacklights used as lighting can be dangerous to the fish because of the part of the color spectrum they use. I have heard it can cause blindness.

Not sure if that is correct lol but just wanted to give you a heads up
