can fluroescent lights overheat
i have a fairly new tank, im used to turning the fluroscent light on and off (because of my old tank with a regular light)..Anyway are you supposed to leave the light on all the time or will that overheat it?

If you have plants you need to leave them on at least 10 hrs. I usually leave mine on 12hrs off 12 hrs. this gives the plants what they need and give the fish a day/night cycle.
Flourescents shouldn't overheat.
