What lighting will work?

I have just finished setting up my 100 gal freshwater tank but am not sure of proper lighting for it. I have no live plants and am going to set it up with schooling fish. I was given 2 light setups that came with a 40W sun glow bulbs in each which are both burnt out or broken.if these will work ok i will just put new bulbs in them. the ballast says on it 1 X F40t10 or T12 40W FL Lamp. I have added a picture if that helps.

Welcome to Fishlore Nomad.

If you don't intend to have any live plants in the future, all you need is enough light to see the fish by. So if what you have works it will be more than adequete. Personally I would still upgrade to a standard T8 fixture as they are far more compact & tubes are much easier to find. I don't know what it's like in Canada but here in Aus, we havn't been able to get T12 tubes for a number of years. They have been phased out due to thier inefficiency. I imagine Canada is going down the same route. If you think you would like to have live plants in the future, it is easier if you upgrade to the lighting that you would need now, rather than trying to do it later when the tank is full & has fish in it.
