Adequate lighting for 10 gallon?

Hey guys, as you all probably know im setting up my 10 gallon again. I plan to keep a mid to large amout of live plants. All the live plants are going to be hardy and aren't going to require an excessive amount of light. Will two ten watt mini compact flouresent lights do the job ok? The species I am considering are:

Java fern
Vallisneria spiralis
Hygrophila polysperma
(And also a few others that aren't on the site)
I also already have a few clumps of Java Moss I'm using

PS My older cousin is telling me you have to acclimate live plants... I don't think you do. Please can someone prove one of us wrong.

That would probably be sufficient.

I've never done any type of acclimation process for a plant, and I've never had a plant die from that lack.
