I was buying my sand today at Home Depot and found a good CFL that is actually pretty good. The brand is n:vision, its sold in packs of 2 for around 7 bucks or so, and is available in daylight, bright white, and soft white. The size I picked up are the 9w which = a 40w standard bulb.

I bought a pack of the bright white and daylight. I tried the daylight first and talk about an improvement....its a ton brighter than those screw in bulbs that came with the tank.

If any of yall out there are looking for a cheap way to upgrade your lighting without the fish store price or buying a whole new hood. Check out your local hardware/home improvement store and give this a shot.
