Lighting a kritter keeper?

Our one betta, Peanut, lives in a Kritter Keeper type 2-ish gallon tank. The tank has a lid, but of course no built in lighting. We had been using a desk lamp for lighting but it was really inconvenient/ineffective because the lid is black and blocked a lot of the light; plus it rattled a lot from vibrations caused by the air pumps.

I need ideas/plans/directions on how I could go about lighting this tank. If possible I would like to build an AC rig right into the lid. I may even cannibalize parts from the lamp. This may be more suited to the DIY forum, not sure...

Thanks!

No no, it's filtered and heated. You are right, it would be silly to bother lighting a deathtrap.

Actually as I made this post, I had a burst of inspiration...

^^Homemade lighted hood. All I did was tear apart the lamp, and bolt the contents to the hood. I think the little black box is an AC/DC transformer.

Thanks Pink, it's funny how asking a question can make you realize you knew the answer all along.
