Glass top and light

I just recieved my package from Dr. Foster and Smith today and I got a new lighting system and a glass top. The light overhangs the glass top by a few inches and would be shining on open water, and I know that the light shouldnt be over open water. Has anyone else had this problem and what should I do? Thanks!

If the correct size of glass top was ordered, there shouldn't be any gaps.

Can you post a picture of your setup? I'm having trouble picturing how the light would overhang by "a few inches".

I will try to get pictures up tonight, I would now but my camera is busted and the only camera in the house that works is my sisters and she's gone right now. I'll try and get pics up though.

Okay, I got some pictures tonight and these are the best that I got. My camera refused to work with me tonight. As you can see in the pictures some evaporation would get into the light which the instructions clearly say that that should NOT happen. The glass hood also came with a plastic piece that is weird shaped and fits on the hood in an odd position.

The plastic trim piece is designed to fit along the back pane of glass, as shown here. It can then be cut to make room for heater cords, filters, etc.

Using that piece would eliminate your problem, as would moving the fixture forward a bit.
