This is what I was trying to get across as wrong. Two 5watt bulbs would give you 10 watts total not 40 watts. This would be 1 wpg not 4. Don't mean to be offensive, just trying to make sure the correct info is out there.

I think you guys are too smart. I must be sure to keep you as very good friends, just in case the puffers start beating the bettas...

Thanks for all of the advice you guys. I may have to downgrade the light on the 2.5 gallon just because it is a tad bright. Don't want to blind any fish now, do we?

I am not offended,nor would I get offended for being proven wrong.Accurate info is essential for anything we do in life.

The reason for what I said,was on the assumption that a 5 watt cfl bulb (amount of energy required to operate the bulb) puts out an equivelent of 20 watts (actual light output)..........The 5 watts goes through the cord to the appliance (has no benefit to plants,only operates the bulb) The 20 watt output produced shines into the water,benefiting the plants.<-----------that's what I was getting at (or trying to) But I still don't think I am saying it right.
