Can T-8 bulbs go in a T-5 Fixture?

Not a good idea, I think. I'm not sure the pins are the right size, and if they are, the ballast may not be the right size. If the pins are right, or if you put new fixtures in, and if you check the ballast, and if that is rated for T8 lights, then you'd be okay, but you've got to check that out first.

Yes they can, and they will make a very lovely Bonfire upon powering

but in truth, no dont even think about it. T8 bulbs in a T5 fixture allows the "Magic Smoke" to escape. we are talking Fried City will be the result.

only T12's and T8's are mostly interchangable ( check the ballast if not sure )

T5's are electricaly very differant.

that will get ya everything you never wanted to know about fluorescents, to include Overdriving them, Yeah i thought that was a real bunch of hooey myself, but it is real, it works and it is safe, and even common, whod a thunk on that one.
