My 20 gal tank a used tank from a friend and the bulb(tube) needs cleaned.

I had tried to find out how many watts it was and through process of elimination, the fact that the only florescent tubes/bulbs that you can buy are all 15 watts so i'm assuming thats what I have in my hood but it has white stuff (dried water deposits?) on the bulb and i'd like to clean that off as it still works well.

Is there anything I can use to make the bulb look and perform like new again?

Maybe just a warm rag will work. I hope so.

I wonder if an aquarium wipe would work?

a damp cloth should be good enough to clean and most bulbs are rated by there length as to the wattage
