i bought a T5 light set up for my 35 gallon planted FW tank. ever since the plants have been doing really well, but so has the algae. the plants quickly grow a brown layer on them, along with most of the other stuff in the tank.

could this be the 460nm Actinic T5HO. the other lamp is a 10000k T5HO.

You have what sounds like new tank syndrome. It eventually clears up as green algae and plants fight with it over nutrients. Just try to keep it under control with regular cleaning.

it shouldnt be. i had the brown algae a while ago, and it was all 100% gone till i put this new light on about 2 weeks ago

would that make it come back?

When I upgraded the lights on my SW tank I went through a second round of it. So it's possible you are too.
