lighting for my plants

i hav had an aqua glow 15watt bulb in my current tank i looked 2 c if u could get a 22inch aqua glow bulb but u cant

the bulb im gettin with my new tank is a 20watt bulb and i do not think its flourescent, will this b ok 4 my live plants

I think so cause i think mine is about 20w also and i think our tank sizes are the same

A 20W bulb over a 20G tank will give you exactly 1wpg. I don't know about the effectiveness of bulbs other than fluorescent for planted tanks so I can't help you with that. But a 20W fluorescent bulb for a 20G tank would be OK I suppose, if the plants are low-light and slow-growing. Though on Plant Geek I have read that the smaller the tank, the more wpg's it actually needs.

Oh, and if the bulb you're getting is incandescent, be careful not to overheat your tank with it.

it could end up being a 15watt bulb that i get with my new tank but the 15watt i hav with my current tank the plants hav grown well and hav been fine !
