Which would be better for a 30 gallon freshwater? i have noticed that most power compacts come with lunar lights on them which is a plus, but T5's seem to have more bulb choices. What is the difference between the two if there is any at all?

I don't know about the compacts, but I know you can get the T5's with lunar lights if you want them, Nova extreme has one with 'em. Wish I could be of more help

T5s put out more light (Assuming its T5HO with a decent reflector), run cooler, and cost less to run. In the saltwater world T5s are comparable to Metal Halides in terms of growing capabilities. Very nice option.

I'd say T5HO is vastly more powerful then Power Compacts. Plus the bulb choices you have make it a good option. You can always rig some LEDs for moonlights yourself!
