Do the fish care what color light or intensity is used? I know it makes a big difference in a planted tank and I know some people prefer different spectrums of light to enhance their fish's color. But does it matter to health of the fish?

I'm currently using a Sun Glo (4200k) light. But I also have another light that's 5500k. I've switched back and forth, and I kind of prefer the 4200k light. It seems a bit warmer to me.

They probably aren't terribly concerned about it. Switching between the deep blues and the warmer colors might bother them, but I don't know.

It actually doesn't matter what color light you put on for them. The only thing that matters I think is how long you turn it on and how many times you turn it on and off. Leaving it on too long may disturb them (thats what I heard) and turning it on and off frequently may frighten them and also disturb them.
