Correct color temp

I have 5500k compact florescent bulbs for my 20g tank and my 50g tank. I have plants in both tanks and I have read that plants need both blue and red light. And since 5500k is white light, and white light is supposed to be the full spectrum, does this mean that my plants will be getting both the blue and red light they need?

They are getting what they need. Plants technically need a bit of every color even green, just a little, so 5500K is perfect.
