what strip lights?

Hi guys, I'm really happy that I found this site.

Ok! I have a 55 gallon 48" lenght with a separated hood "not a single hood".
My tank needs two 18" lights .

So my problem is that I can't find any 18" bulbs with wattage higher that 15 watts. and i can't add a full hood cause my hood is separated by a plastic thing in the middle of the tank so if 18" lights won't do it please link me any Strip Lights that would work with my tank and low to medium plants.

I would prefer if the strip lights are black color.

You need at least 2 watts per gallon to grow a reasonable variety of plants.

IF those two bulbs equal 30 watts total, that won't do it. You need at least 110 watts total.

I dont' know about those bulbs.

Just be patient and hopefully someone like MrWaxhead will be along to advise you!

You willing to do a DIY hood? You would have so many more options then. I did one for my 55 gallon. There is a link in my signature.

Also 1 watt per gallon will be able to grow low light plants easily, at least with CFLs since I am doing a 55 gallon tank with only 56 watts.

Wood would be the easiest material. Once you build the hood you can attach what ever type of lighting you want to the inside of the hood. Look at my 55 gallon tank and you can see a cheap and easy hood you can make. You can also look through the DIY forum for other hoods that people have made.

If you want help making a hood, I can help along with others. You will get more people to respond if you start a new topic in the DIY forum. This is if you are actually going to try and make one.
